LALIGA EA SPORTS and the PLATINO Awards are celebrating the fifth edition of the Stars Match, a charity event that, as in previous years, unites LALIGA legends and celebrated figures from Ibero-American cinema and television in anticipation of the XII PLATINO Awards, set to take place on April 27th at IFEMA.

Continuing its cherished tradition, the match will unite prominent representatives of the Spanish- and Portuguese-language audiovisual industries with iconic LALIGA legends for a friendly game. This event underscores the strong synergy between culture and sports—two key sectors that foster human development, promote educational and civic values, and support social and humanitarian causes that benefit from the match’s annual proceeds.

This year’s edition focuses on raising funds to aid victims of the DANA storm, which caused widespread damage to football fields and facilities due to severe flooding. The Stars Match builds on donations already made by LALIGA EA SPORTS, which have been instrumental in rehabilitating four facilities within the Valencian Community.

Thanks to the collaboration between LALIGA EA SPORTS and the Valencia CF Foundation through their FC FUTURES program, reconstruction has commenced on key facilities, including the Jaume Ortí Football Pitch in Aldaia, Mundial 82 Stadium in Catarroja, the Sedaví Municipal Sports Center, and El Raval Pitch in Algemesí. These efforts will benefit 3,000 children and registered teams from the affected areas, ensuring they can continue practicing sports in safe, well-equipped environments.

“Initiatives like FC FUTURES showcase football’s power to transform communities. At LALIGA, we are proud to support projects that create safe spaces for children and youth to enjoy football in their local environments,” said Jorge de la Vega, Executive Director of LALIGA.

“The intersection of culture and sport as allied industries capable of driving profound social change is a major point of pride for us. This is especially true when it supports critical causes, such as helping communities recover from the DANA storm. Audiovisual professionals have stepped up with talent and commitment to help alleviate the tragedy’s impact,” added Enrique Cerezo, President of EGEDA and the PLATINO Awards.

This year's Stars Match will feature a remarkable lineup of Ibero-American artists, including Álvaro Díaz, Amaury Nolasco, Benjamín Vicuña, Carlos Torres, Claudio Cataño, Cristo Fernández, Héctor Kotsifakis, Hugo Bonèmer, India Martínez, Janer Villareal, Karla Sofía Gascón, Laura Londoño, Loren Sofía, Manolo Cardona, Marc Clotet, Michelle Renaud, Nico Furtado, Pablo Cruz, and Rodrigo Guirao. They’ll be joined by LALIGA legends such as Aintzane Encinas, Iker Casillas, Juan Pablo Sorín, Kiko Casilla, Mario Suárez, and Miguel Ángel Moyá.

Funds raised during the match—including proceeds from a jersey auction via the MatchWornShirt website—will further this social cause, augmenting the contributions already made by LALIGA EA SPORTS. This special edition will also welcome some extraordinary guests: children from sports academies whose facilities are currently being restored.
