Atletico and Barcelona continue to duel it out at the top of the Liga Iberdrola

Las Rojiblancas thrashed Oiartzun to stay top, while Las Azulgranas kept within touching distance by edging Tacuense, who remain in the drop zone alongside Espanyol.

Oiartzun KE 1-4 Atletico Madrid

After being held by Athletic Club last time out, the pressure was on Atletico to get back to winning ways on their visit to Oiartzun and they did so in emphatic fashion. Although the scoreline was 1-1 at the break after Nerea Abancens had cancelled out Esther Gonzalez's opener, Angel Villacampa's charges stepped it up a gear after the interval and eventually prevailed courtesy of goals from Silvia Meseguer, Sonia Bermudez and Priscila Borja. The ultimately comfortable triumph ensured that Las Rojiblancas stay at the summit for another matchday.

Athletic Club 3-2 Levante UD

Lezama witnessed one of the most exciting encounters of the weekend, which wasn't decided until the 93rd minute. All of the goals came in the second half. Maria Jose Perez fired the visitors on 54', before Nekane Diez equalised 20 minutes later. Nekane nabbed a second leveller after Charlyn Corral had re-established Levante's lead and then Leia Zarate netted a dramatic winner for Athletic with practically the final kick of the game.

F. Albacete 0-2 Rayo Vallecano

It was a landmark day in Albacete, with the historic Estadio Carlos Belmonte opening its doors to a Liga Iberdrola match for the very first time. More than 3,500 fans were in attendance and all proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards the battle against childhood cancer. The struggling hosts were unable to mark the occasion with a victory, however, being left to rue two first-half attempts that struck the woodwork. Seemingly galvanised by those close shaves, Rayo dominated following the restart and claimed the spoils through efforts from Sheila Garcia and Bea Torija.

Valencia CF 2-0 Santa Teresa CD

Cristian Toro's troops cruised to a seventh straight victory with a vintage performance, taking advantage of Levante's loss to tighten their grip on third place. Yanara Aedo opened the scoring with a deft, dinked finish not long before the half-time whistle and Claudia Zornoza settled the contest with a slightly scuffed strike with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Sporting Huelva 2-3 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad remain on a roll after triumphing on one of the toughest away trips in the division to make it five wins on the spin. Sporting will go away bitterly disappointed, having had the upper hand and let the points slip in the latter stages. Cristina Martin-Prieto put the home team 2-1 up in the 87th minute, but Nahikari Garcia notched two goals in as many minutes to hand La Real victory.

RCD Espanyol 0-2 Zaragoza CFF

Las Pericas show no sign of turning the corner, their latest defeat stretching their winless run to 12 matchdays. Goals either side of half-time from Naima Garcia and Nuria Mallada did the job for Zaragoza and left Espanyol still languishing in the dreaded bottom two, a point adrift of safety.

UD Tacuense 1-2 FC Barcelona

Following Atleti's victory in the Basque Country, Xavi Llorens's side knew that only a win would do. The stakes were just as high for Tacuense, who had the opportunity to climb out of the relegation places following F. Albacete and Oiartzun's respective losses. Barça did the business, but laboured along the way. The Catalans looked fatigued after their exploits in midweek, when they knocked out FC Rosengard to reach the Women's Champions League semi-finals for the first time. Jenni Hermoso broke the deadlock shortly after the quarter-hour mark, before Tania Carballo equalised from the penalty spot on the hour. Hermoso struck again a few minutes later to keep her team on Atletico's tail.

Real Betis 1-3 Granadilla Egatesa

It was a clash between Andalusians and Canary Islanders that closed the curtain on Matchday 24, with the visitors running out victorious to extend their unbeaten streak to six (W4 D2). Virginia Garcia volleyed Granadilla in front after 10 minutes, but Beatriz Parra restored parity right on the stroke of half-time. Maria Estella del Valle headed the away side back into the lead with 20 minutes to go and then Ana Gonzalez made sure of the points right at the death.
