We’ve already seen many examples which have shown us how the histories of towns are linked to their football clubs. And this time, it’s the same story with AD Alcorcón, where clay and ovens have led to their own specific nickname.
The city coat of arms also gives us an idea of why the yellow side are called ‘alfarero’. Three red clay jugs give away the artisan history of the municipality. Since the 18th century, this craft was one of the main economic activities in Alcorcón.
There was an abundance of raw material in the area, but due to its high quality, the local clay stood out. Their pots became so famous that the royal families of Europe were some of their biggest customers. Nowadays Alcorcón keep on adding to the history with the term ‘alfarero’
