Almeria is one of the teams of LaLiga with one of the most singular nicknames. The Almeria players and fans are known as rojiblancos for the colors of heir shirt, but there is another more curious pseudonym: indálicos.
This nickname has its origin in the Indalo, a figure that represents a character with outstretched arms and a bow in his hands. This figure is painted in Cueva de los Letreros, in the Almeria town of Velez Blanco, declared a World Heritage Site.
For decades, the Indalo is probably the most representative icon of Almeria. In such manner, Almeria did not hesitate to include the Indalo figure at the top of his shield.
