La Liga returns and with it the best thrill of a competition that in its Matchday 8 appears more even than ever. Review how was the situation on the table before the international break.
Parity at the top
None of the first six teams of the standings were able to win and open a gap at the top of the table. Neither Villarreal CF, Real Madrid, RC Celta, FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid nor RC Deportivo picked up the three points in a strategic matchday for interests of all.
Neither Real Madrid nor Barça won their vital matches against Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla FC respectively.
Pressure on the leader
Who did so was Levante, who defeated the leader, Villarreal CF, and started the climbing. Despite having fallen in the last matchday, the team led by Marcelino Garcia Toral, who received LaLiga’s best manager of the month award for September, remains at the top and gets RC Celta this weekend, one of its pursuers.
Betis and Sevilla, the ones with two consecutive wins
R. Betis and Athletic Club also earned all three points against two combative and strong rivals. The Andalusians defeated Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas, 0-2 and the "Rojiblancos" prevailed over Valencia 3-1 at San Mamés.
Malaga scored finally
The Andalusians celebrated in style their first goals of the course. They had not been able to find the net until matchday 7, but against Real Sociedad, did it triply, and with a Charles hat-trick.
Keylor shines
Keylor Navas was consolidated as the most reliable goalkeeper of Liga BBVA, with only two goals conceded.
Top scorers
And if we talk about goals, we must also keep an eye to Karim Benzema, top scorer of the competition along with Nolito, Imanol Agirretxe and Cristiano Ronaldo.
