Previously… Txomin Larraínzar was a centre back who came through the ranks at Osasuna, playing 15 years as a professional. He played for the Navarre-based side for eight seasons, while he also represented Málaga for six years and played for Levante in his final season as a footballer.
His achievements… After eight years with Osasuna, the final two in Liga Adelante, he signed for Málaga CF, who were then in Segunda B. In six seasons on the Costa del Sol, he achieved two promotions in three seasons to help the side reach Liga BBVA. In his second season in Spain's top division, he achieved his best goal return, scoring three times for Málaga.
After hanging up his boots… Txomin Larraínzar retired in 2003 after a year with Levante UD. His brother Íñigo hung up his boots four years later, and together they returned to Pamplona to set up a real estate business.
Did you know… He played with his brother Íñigo Larrainzar during his first four seasons at Osasuna. Txomin is two years older, and was known as Larrainzar I, while Íñigo was called Larrainzar II, until the younger signed for Athletic Club in 1993.
