Previously… Kizito Musampa (b. Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, 20 July 1977) is a former Dutch footballer who played as an attacking midfielder for the likes of Atlético Madrid and Málaga CF.
His achievements… Musampa was a player known for his speed and physical strength. At just 17 he was one of the gems of the academy at AFC Ajax, where he won the UEFA Champions League in 1995. Málaga signed him in the 1990/2000 season and the Dutch player made a big impact in the four campaigns he spent at La Rosaleda, where he played in 96 Liga BBVA games, scored 22 goals, won an Intertoto Cup and played in the UEFA Cup. He was then signed by Atlético, where he spent two seasons, but was unable to reach the performance levels he achieved at the Andalusian club.
After hanging up his boots... He said farewell to football in 2009 as a Willem II player in Holland. After his retirement he started his career as a coach and he now manages the Almere City FC youth team, an Ajax affiliate.
Did you know… Musampa played in six different countries during his professional career. In addition to Spain and his country of origin, where he also played for AZ Alkmaar, he represented FC Girondins de Bordeaux in France, Manchester City in England, Trabzonspor Külubü in Turkey and FC Seoul in South Korea.
