The two youngsters of Villarreal focused all sights from the stands before and after the match. Samuel Sanchez as a starter, and Samu Castillejo, as a substitute, returned to the stadium who saw them grow and managed to take the three points in a close game.
An own goal from Fernando Tissone, after a direct free kick by Denis Suarez, unbalanced the game when it was more even. The Andalusian team morale was dented and Villarreal, with the advantage, came to dominate the match.
Despite going behind on the scoreboard, Malaga continued to seek its first goal in Liga BBVA this year. The attack tried without luck throughout the final stretch, but neither veteran Duda, nor the newcomer Duje Cop saw the net.
