Vela earns Real Sociedad three points

Real Sociedad got back to winning ways in the Liga BBVA after beating Valladolid 1-0 during matchday 30 of the competition. Carlos Vela, who has now found the mark on 13 occasions during the current campaign, scored the only goal of the game.

The fans in Anoeta were at hand to witness a battle between two sides with widely varying objectives for this season. The home team, looking for a place in Europe next year, made their intentions clear in the very first minute, with Antoine Griezmann trying his luck from outside the box. Haris Seferović followed up soon after with another effort, but it was Vela who opened up the scoring with a deft piece of play.

Valladolid tried to turn things around after the half time break and began to dominate possession and create the better of the chances. However, Óscar González wasted a one-on-one opportunity against Claudio Bravo, who was a major factor for Juan Ignacio Martínez's side not leaving the Basque Country with at least a point. This result helps Real in their bid for European qualification, while Valladolid remain rooted in the relegation zone.
