Valencia CF did want to leave Singapore without showing their backing for the efforts of the Singapore Committee for UN Women, the local branch of the United Nations organisation that fights for gender equality and women's rights. They did so at an event at which the club's expedition was again accompanied by Liga BBVA ambassadors and former Los Che players David Albelda and Gaizka Mendieta.
Both Valencia and LaLiga once more demonstrated their strong commitment to making the most of the visibility provided by football as a platform in order to further social causes. "I think this is very important because it helps to promote LaLiga and it shows that both the club and the competition care about what happens in the community," stressed Lay Hoon Chan. The Los Che chairwoman made a point of thanking LaLiga "for accompanying us on this journey." "Receiving this support means a lot to us," she added.
This was the final stop for the Valencia party and the Liga BBVA ambassadors in Singapore. The five-day visit to the Asian country has not only served to promote Valencia and LaLiga in the area, but the footballers themselves are now more aware of the unwavering support they receive there. "There are so many Valencia fans here. They've made us feel so welcome at every event," stated striker Paco Alcacer.
With the club now putting a campaign to forget behind them, all eyes are focused on next season. "After such a bad year, we're keen to start afresh, wipe the slate keen and show that Valencia have to be challenging at the top end of the table," said Alcacer. The chairwoman also offered her insight: "Valencia are one of the biggest clubs in LaLiga and we want to get back to that level. We hope it won't be long, but if it is, we ask the fans to be patient. Our target is to compete at the highest level which in Europe means participating in the Champions League," concluded Lay Hoon Chan.
