Following the conclusion of a thrilling 2015/16 Liga BBVA season, the time has come to enjoy the LaLiga World off-season tours. Real Sociedad, RCD Espanyol and SD Eibar will all be taking centre stage as part of the LFP World Challenge project, through which they will be promoting the image of LaLiga clubs across the globe.
Getting the ball rolling on this experience are Real Sociedad. The Basque outfit is already in the United States and is set to take on the San Jose Earthquakes in a friendly on 18 May. Six days later, they will contest the Charities Cup against Houston Dynamo in Texas.
Espanyol, meanwhile, are back in the LaLiga World picture for the second year running. On this occasion they will be travelling to Bolivia, where they will play matches against Club Blooming on 19 May and Club Bolivar on the 22nd. The Estadio Ramon Tahuichi Aguilera, in Santa Cruz, and the Estadio Felix Capriles, in Cochabamba, will be the respective venues for these fixtures.
As for SD Eibar, this will be a first LaLiga World appearance for the Basque outfit, who are set to jet off to the East Coast, where they will pit their wits against the Philadelphia Fury at the Richard Wackar Stadium. Following on from this game, Jose Luis Mendilibar's men will head for Las Vegas to face the New York Cosmos, a side for whom numerous football legends including Pele and the current LaLiga country manager for the United States, Raul Gonzalez, have turned out. These two fixtures, to be staged on 22 and 25 May, are set to be great spectacles and ones in which fine football and non-stop excitement are sure to come to the fore. Eibar's Stateside encounters will be particularly special for the Eibar USA supporters' club, who are very active in their support of the Armeros.
In addition, within the LFP World Challenge programme, both Real Sociedad and Eibar will take part in a series of events with businesses and representatives from various social and economic spheres of American society, while Espanyol will similarly interact with the Bolivian community during their trip. Taking in games from the NBA, the best basketball league on the planet, as well as attending events such as the Spain Experience, a platform promoted by LaLiga which gives business leaders an opportunity to share ideas and knowledge, are amongst the activities set to feature in the programme.
