A record Liga Iberdrola call up for the Women's World Cup

More than 40 players from 14 of the 16 teams in the Liga Iberdrola will be represented at the tournament in France this summer.

The Liga Iberdrola’s continued growth is reflected in the fact that 14 of the 16 clubs in the top division last season will have repesentatives at the Women’s World Cup in France.

An unprecedented 45 Liga Iberdrola players have been called up by 12 different national teams: Spain (20), France (1), England (1), Netherlands (3), Italy (1), Argentina (5), Brazil (4), Australia (1), Chile (6), South Africa (1), Nigeria (1) and Cameroon (2).

FC Barcelona lead the way with 15 players on duty with Lieke Martens and Asisat Oshoala going as leading lights in their national squads, Netherlands and Nigeria respectively, while unsurprisngly Spain is the country best represented from the Liga Iberdrola with 20 players.
