The Liga de Fútbol Profesional has taken another step towards helping society as a whole. On this occasion, the organisation has made a commitment towards helping the more than 150 million youngsters in Latin America.
Today in Burgos, and in front of an audience of Latin American ministers and leaders, the LFP president Javier Tebas presented a project designed to use sport as a transversal tool for helping shape public policies youngsters: "Football's capacity to reach the masses gives it an unparalleled ability to capture peoples' attention and a great catalyst to achieve any educational or awareness objective. It is our obligation to give back to society what it gives us".
The list of speakers included the chairman of the Latin American Youth Organisation's (OIJ) Board of Directors, José Manuel Romero Coello; the vice-chairman of OIJ and director of the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), Rubén Rosa; as well as the LFP marketing director, Adolfo Bara.Through the Fútbol Profesional Foundation, and as part of the international LFP World Challenge event, LFP will launch the Latin American School of Football & Values. "The aim of this project is for government institutions to take advantage of the effective vehicle of sport, and more specifically football, to develop an educational model that has a real impact on young people. Involving children and grow-ups and promoting values that prevent the risk of exclusion", Javier Tebas said in his speech.
The model to follow is the LFP Football Camp, which after eight events has become one of the best in the world. "Young people are taught to know how to win and how to lose; we encourage coexistence, respect for others and team work, using football as a tool for education for their development", the La Liga president said.
