The president of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, Javier Tebas, will be at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich on Tuesday 2 September as a member of a working group on third-party ownership of footballers’ economic rights.
The first session will be attended by representatives of the confederations, FIFPro and the member associations, as well as representatives of clubs from England, Portugal and Brazil. Javier Tebas and Fréderic Thiriez, the president of Ligue 1 in France, will provide the point of view of their respective competitions in the debate.
Various alternative regulations for these kinds of rights will be presented in order to provoke discussion on the most suitable option.
The new working group was created as part of the 64th FIFA Congress to deal with the regulations on this issue. It is made up of members of the international football community, guaranteeing a balanced representation of all parties and the greatest number of perspectives possible.
The meeting will start after a welcome from the president of FIFA, Joseph Blatter.
