The African Cup of Nations is Africa’s premier football tournament. The action got underway in Cameroon last Sunday, a country that lives and breathes the beautiful game. The Indomitable Lion’s are one of 24 nations competing to be crowned African champions in the final next 6th February.
A number of players involved in the tournament currently ply their trade in LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank. In total, 16 different players from Spain’s top two divisions have been called up to help their country fight for continental glory.
Villarreal CF are the club with most representation in the African Cup of Nations. Four players from The Yellow Submarine are currently involved in the competition, namely Aïssa Mandi (Algeria), Boulaye Dia (Senegal), Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast) and Samu Chukwueze (Nigeria).
Meanwhile, Sevilla FC have three players currently in action in Cameroon: Yassine Bounou, Youssef En-Nesyri and Munir El Haddadi, all of whom for Morocco. Deportivo Alaves also count on the participation of two players, Mamadou Loum (Senegal) and Jesús Owono (Ecuatorial Guinea).

CD Leganes: Kennet Omeruo (Nigeria)
SD Huesca: Kelechi Nwakali (Nigeria)
Real Valladolid CF: Saidy Janko (Gambia)
