- It was constructed over a former agricultural area of 40,000 square meters and replaced the mythical Vallejo stadium as Levante's home.
- Initially, it should have been completed by December 1963. Finally, though, it opened its doors on the 9th of September, 1969, celebrating a friendly match between Levante UD and Valencia CF.
- It was officially called Antonio Roman stadium between 1969 and 1972, when it came to be known as Nou Estadi. It changed its name to Ciutat de Valencia in 1999.
- Juan Antonio Samaranch, the then National Sports Delegate, pressed the button that illuminated the towers of the new Levante stadium for the first time. He also received the gold medal of the Levante society.
- Elisa Bau Carpi, the club’s first sponsor, made the honor kick-off at the opening match against Valencia CF.
- The 'granota' team used their new stadium for the first time in Third Division, where they finished the 1969/70 season classifying fourth in Group V with 49 points.
- Levante played its first match in Liga BBVA in the Ciutat de Valencia stadium on the 12th of September, 2004, when they celebrated their 3-1triumph against Real Racing Club, despite having started out losing after a goal by David Aganzo.
- It also has a chapel, which was donated by the supporters association in 1984.
- In the 2012/13 season, the Ciutat de Valencia stadium hosted six matches for the UEFA Europa League. The first one was on the 30th of August, 2012, when Levante beat Motherwell 1-0 in the play-off return game which let them get to the group stage. The Greek player, Theofanis Gekas was the scorer of this first European goal.
- The Spanish National Team has played two games in this feud. The first was a friendly match against Scotland in 2004 which ended 1-1. The second was in September of 2014, in a classification match for the 2016 Eurocup against Macedonia in which Spain came out victoriously (5-1).
