- He started out with the youth teams of the La Salle school.
- Before joining R. Sporting, he played for Caudal Deportivo and Real Oviedo.

- Castro claimed a club record by hitting nine first-team goals before the age of 20. This goals return outdid David Villa's early career achievements with the Asturian club.
- He claimed Sporting's 1,700th Liga BBVA goal.
- Current boss, Abelardo, has played an important role in Castro's career after handing him his debuts with both Sporting B and the first team.
