R. Sporting earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over R. Racing C. on matchday 38 of the Liga Adelante. Despite the visitors opening the scoring through a goal from Juanpe Ramírez, Abelardo Fernández’s men turned it around to claim the points, with striker Miguel Ángel Guerrero putting in a terrific display.
In spite of the final result, it was Racing who put themselves in the driving seat early on as they went ahead with 11 minutes on the clock. The Santander club's goal arrived from a corner kick delivered by Iñaki Saénz, Juanpe popping up to beat Iván Cuéllar with a great header. Racing’s joy lasted just 5 minutes, however: on 17', Guerrero capitalised on an unsuccessful clearance from Mario Fernández to level with a headed effort into the net. Bernard then had an inviting opportunity to give Sporting the lead, but the scores remained even going into the break.
In the second half, there was to be no mistake from Bernardo as he put Sporting 2-1 up after 68 minutes, the Colombian defender getting on the end of a throw-in right into the heart of the area and taking full advantage. Once in front, the hosts continued to threaten their opponents' goal, and got their reward when a precise cross from Álex Menéndez was buried by Guerrero. Iván Moreno and David Miguélez had opportunities to cut the deficit for Racing, but the match finished in a 3-1 triumph for los rojiblancos.
