Real Sporting continued their good form in the Liga Adelante with a 3-1 victory over Real Zaragoza on matchday 12 of the competition. Carlos Castro, making his first start, scored a brace, and Sergio Álvarez sealed the home side’s win. Javi Álamo had temporarily levelled the match.
It was an intense first half at El Molinón. Sporting got off to the better start, attacking with pace and threatening Whalley’s goal, and it brought them the first score of the game, through Carlos Castro. The gem from the Rojiblanco academy made the most of a good move from Ndi to put his side ahead. However, Zaragoza did not give up and they started to gain ground on the field, leading to an equaliser through Javi Álamo off a Rubén pass.
The second half exemplified the good football that Sporting have been playing in the competition. Carlos Castro got on the end of a rebound off Cuéllar inside the box to score his team’s second goal just after the break, while Sergio sealed their win with a header in the final stages of the encounter. The result leaves Sporting in third place, while for the Aragonese side it was their second defeat on the trot in the championship.
