Changes in the team
Vicente Del Bosque decided to renew the national team lineup including six changes to the side that won against Slovakia at Oviedo. De Gea, Carvajal, Bernat, Mata, Cazorla and Isco were the players who started in manager´s starting eleven.
Mata
Indeed, one of the most outstanding men of the first half was Juan Mata. The Manchester United player was one of the busiest men on the field and scored a goal to remember. Mata controlled the ball on the right side and his bended cross got eventually enter to the Macedonian goal helped by goalkeeper´s mistake.
De Gea
David de Gea return to the starting lineup in an official match and fulfilled leaving a clean sheet against an opponent who did not have chances near the Spanish goal. The goalkeeper kept the team's defensive order and transmitted security on the few actions that he had to step in.
Possession and lack of opportunities
Spanish team took over the possession and control of the match right from the beginning, and only suffered a couple of attacks from the wings by Macedonia. However, despite the possession and control of the game, the national team could not found spaces easily in the rival´s defensive line, and after the opening goal they did not have good chances to kill off the match.
Just a point from France
With this victory, Spain is on the brink of the UEFA Euro 2016 to be held in France. Del Bosque's men need only a draw against Luxembourg at Logroño to be in the final stage of tournament.
