Spain all set for EURO 2016 opener against the Czech Republic

Monday sees Spain open their Euro 2016 campaign in France, where La Roja are bidding to retain their title and lift a third consecutive European Championship, which would see them become the continent's most decorated national team. Vicente del Bosque's charges - who head into the tournament in fine spirits - get their campaign up and running against the Czech Republic, before games against Croatia and Turkey.

A look at the history books sees Spain go into their tournament opener as firm favourites, taking on a Czech side who have never managed to inflict defeat on their first-game opponents. With a fully-fit squad at his disposal, Vicente del Bosque is able to field his strongest lineup, as Spain seek to get their campaign off to a winning start.

David de Gea looks poised to get the nod between the sticks, with Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique forming the central defensive partnership in front of him, whilst Juanfran and Jordi Alba are set to complete the backline. In midfield, FC Barcelona duo Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta are a safe bet to make the starting XI, although there are some doubts as to who will join them in the middle third. Up top, Del Bosque could well plump for a forward three of RC Celta's Nolito, along with David Silva and Alvaro Morata.

These are the men who look set to be charged with ensuring that Spain get off to a good start in their quest to claim a fourth European Championship title, a feat which would see La Roja crowned as the continent's most successful national team and would certainly erase the memories of the disappointing showing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
