Sevilla FC beat CA Osasuna in Sunday's first Liga BBVA match thanks to two goals from Ivan Rakitić and Jairo Samperio in the second half. Oriol Riera found the net in the dying minutes for Javi Gracia's team.
The Andalusian side, which had more players for most of the clash due to Damià Abella's red card in the first half, recorded its third victory in the Liga BBVA and has now played five matches in a row without losing. After a closely-fought first half, Unai Emery's men picked up the tempo in the second and got their payback through Rakitić after 55 minutes. The Croatian midfielder beat Andrés Fernández putting an acrobatic finish on Stéphane Mbia's pass to make it 1-0.
Despite the fact that Osasuna searched hard for an equaliser, the youngster Jairo found a cushion for Sevilla in the 75th minute. Oriol Riera managed to reduce the deficit for the side from Navarre with three minutes of normal time to spare, but the home team was able to hold firm until the final whistle and the three points remained in the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
