Sergio Egea named Liga Adelante Manager of the Month for December

Real Oviedo have enjoyed a spectacular 2015. After winning promotion to the Liga Adelante in May, Oviedo have continued to keep their fans entertained. They delivered the perfect Christmas present last month when they rose to third in the standings fanning hopes that the Asturians could go all the way in 2016 and win a return to the top flight of Spanish football.

The team's performances during the month of December were faultless with three wins from three. Coach Sergio Egea's experience has been crucial since he arrived in the post in 2014. He has rotated players to keep the squad fresh so that key figures such as Esteban, Carlos Peña, Néstor Susaeta, Toché and Linares have been able to produce the goods when it counts. Along with Mirandes they are the highest scoring team in the division with 27 goals. 

This award, granted by BBVA, the main sponsor of the competition, and chosen by the editors of LaLiga.es, recognises the work of a coach looking to consolidate his side in the second tier of Spanish football. The way they are playing now though invites hopes of a possible promotion to the Liga BBVA.
