A red-hot Granada CF, after four games unbeaten, hosted a Levante UD who had only picked up one point. The first 45 minutes were uneventful, but after the break Rubén García scored the only goal of the match to give the Azulgranas three points.
There were no clear chances on goal in the first half. The most dangerous chance for the home side fell to Jhon Córdoba but his shot sailed over the bar. For Levante, a great cross from José Luis Morales cut through the box, but David Barral was unable to give it the finish it deserved.
No sooner had the second half got under way than Levante scored their first goal of the 2014/15 Liga BBVA. Rubén García made it 0-1 after beating several Granada players in an individual move.
After the goal, Levante absorbed the onslaught from Joaquín Caparrós' men, who were now frequently venturing into their opponents' area in search of an equaliser that never came. The result means Levante have their first victory of the season and José Luis Mendilibar will be hoping it breathes a new lease of life into his men.
