CD Tenerife 1-1 CD Mirandes
The spoils were shared in the Canary Islands following a keenly contested clash between two teams at opposite ends of the table. Amath headed the promotion-chasing islanders into the lead, but Nestor Salinas brought the relegation-threatened visitors level with a low, skidding drive just before the break. Tenerife came close to restoring their advantage in the second half, only to pass up several presentable chances, much to the home fans' frustration.
AD Alcorcon 0-0 Sevilla Atletico
There was no breaking the deadlock at Santo Domingo, leaving both sides to go away with a valuable point. While Alcorcon edge slightly further away from danger, Sevilla Atletico's 12th draw of the campaign cements their position in the comfort of mid-table.
Rayo Vallecano 0-0 CF Reus
The third draw of the matchday ensured that Michel had something to show for his first home fixture in charge of Rayo. The Madrilenians could and perhaps should have claimed victory, making most of the running but being denied by a combination of wayward finishing and bad luck, including the woodwork and a debatable offside flag.
Girona FC 5-1 Getafe CF
Amid a string of tight LaLiga 1|2|3 encounters on Friday and Saturday, this showdown between two promotion pretenders proved a resounding outlier. Kiko Olivas's stooping header set Girona on their way after 19 minutes and before long they were 3-0 up, Borja Garcia smashing home from distance after a cleverly worked short free-kick and then Alex Granell coolly converting from the spot. Samuele Longo made it 4-0 after the restart and then sealed the rout after Francisco Portillo had pulled one back.
R. Oviedo 2-1 Cádiz CF
In another big game in the upper reaches of the division, R. Oviedo produced a stirring comeback to snare three precious points. The away side went ahead through Salvi's tap-in, but Fernando Hierro's charges did not throw in the towel and turned the scoreline around courtesy of a pair of superb headers from Miguel Linares and Christian. The win sees the Asturians leapfrog the Andalusians into fourth place.
UCAM Murcia CF 1-1 RCD Mallorca
These two sides served up a stalemate at La Condomina as the Murcians hit back to salvage a point courtesy of a second-half spot-kick. This result keeps the hosts three points above the relegation places, whilst the islanders remain marooned in the drop zone on a day that saw the visitors fail to toast their 101st anniversary with a win. Antonio Raillo drew first blood for Mallorca when he leapt highest to head home an inswinging corner, only for Jona to level terms from the spot.
SD Huesca 1-0 R. Valladolid CF
A David Ferreiro strike in the closing stages handed Huesca a precious victory, which serves to keep their playoff hopes alive and kicking. Ferreiro kept his cool to slot home the winner after a Carlos Akapo piledriver had crashed back off the upright. This result sees Huesca overtake Valladolid in the standings, with the visitors now lying four points adrift of the playoffs.
Nastic 2-1 Cordoba CF
Manu Barreiro grabbed a last-gasp winner as Nastic mounted a rousing comeback to edge past Cordoba in this bottom-of-the-table bout. The Andalusians came racing out of the blocks and got their noses in front early on through Rodri, but Bruno later restored parity and the game looked destined to end all square. Barreiro, however, clearly hadn't read the script and he pounced in the 95th minute to seal a third successive triumph for Juan Merino's charges. These three points propel the Catalans up to 15th as they climb away from the relegation mire, whilst Cordoba continue to languish perilously above the dreaded drop zone.
Levante UD 2-1 Elche CF
The league leaders also found themselves having to come from behind to claim the bragging rights in this Valencian derby. Jose Alberto Toril's troops got themselves in front with just two minutes on the clock when Nino stroked the ball home. However, the hosts fought back after the break through a Victor Casadesus strike and a Juan Muñoz spot-kick. This victory sees Los Granotes go marching on in their quest for promotion, whilst defeat leaves Elche entrenched in mid-table.
CD Lugo 1-2 UD Almeria
Almeria secured a maiden away league triumph of the campaign as they ran out narrow winners at the Angel Carro courtesy of Quique's early effort and a second-half own goal from Jordi Calavera. After falling two goals behind, Lugo soon halved the deficit through Pablo Caballero, but the Galicians ultimately failed to find an equaliser. Whilst they remain in the relegation zone, this win does at least serve to hoist the Andalusians off the bottom. Meanwhile, failure to secure maximum points here represents a missed opportunity for Lugo to have closed in on the playoff spots.
R.Zaragoza 3-0 CD Numancia
The hosts swatted Numancia aside with consummate ease at La Romareda as these two sides brought the curtain down on the Matchday 28 action. Javi Ros set Zaragoza on their way, before an Angel penalty and a Marco Silva strike sealed the deal for the Aragonese outfit. This triumph sees Raul Agne's men climb up to 13th and just a point behind 10th-placed Numancia.
