Real Sociedad and Sevilla FC got Sunday’s Liga BBVA matchday 24 action underway with a passionate encounter full of goals that ended in a 4-3 in the San Sebastian outfit’s favour. The enthralling clash was punctuated with seven goals and turnarounds for both sides.
The game started with both teams in all-out-attack mode and there were plenty of chances during the first half. Even though the Andalusians dominated the encounter during the initial exchanges, Real Sociedad took control of matters and got the first goal, which, in Carlos Vela’s absence and for a third matchday in a row, Imanol Agirretxe scored. Following a Sergio Canales one-on-one with Sergio Rico, Sevilla looked for an equaliser, which they found through a strategic bit of play that Kolodziejczak was able to finish off just before the half-time break.
An even more thrilling goal fest was to come in the second half. Xabi Prieto put the home team in front from the penalty spot, a blow Unai Emery’s men – with courage and personality – managed to answer back with two goals of their own to turn the game around. First up it was Carlos Bacca and Kevin Gameiro, also with a penalty, who turned things around on the scoreboard. However, Real Sociedad did not waste any time and responded in similar fashion to the setback. An Alejandro Arribas own goal and a Xabi Prieto effort right at the death earned the Basques, who seem to find their best form against the bigger sides, claim all three points.
