Real Sociedad's LaLiga World tour continues in full swing. On Saturday the campus of Rice University was the venue for their first training session in Houston. Good cheer was the order of the day in a morning session which got underway with mobility exercises, followed by rondos (keep-ball circles) and possession drills, before a reduced-pitch match to wrap up proceedings.
These exertions represented the start of Real Sociedad's preparations for their second game Stateside, against the Houston Dynamo of the MLS. "Our aim is to put in a good performance and get a win here in Houston," said La Real captain Xabi Prieto, looking ahead to the encounter.
The session was also attended by a number of Real Sociedad's United States-based fans, who dropped by to see the action and made the most of the chance to meet their idols. Countless autographs were signed and photos were taken as the supporters savoured a very special moment.
Prieto also outlined how he and his teammates are approaching the match against the Dynamo, in which the two teams will be contesting the BBVA Compass Charities Cup: "I'm sure that the Houston Dynamo are motivated by the prospect of facing LaLiga opposition. For our part, we want to get rid of the bad taste that the defeat in San Jose left in our mouths and end the campaign with a victory."
On Sunday the La Real squad have a day off. They will return to training on Monday, when they will go through their paces for the last time ahead of the game against the Dynamo, which will bring the curtain down on their LaLiga World tour of the US.
