A very smart Vela
Real Sociedad ruled the match from the very beginning, creating a suffocating pressure on their rival. By that, they managed to frequently steal the ball from Levante and, after a first warning, Carlos Vela scored in the first chance he had. A great assist by Xabi Prieto allowed the Mexican player to overcome Rubén and put his team forward on the scoreboard.
Rulli, a safe bet
Things could have changed if it weren’t for Rulli’s performance: Real Sociedad goalkeeper was key to keeping the visitors ahead on the score. After the goal, Levante tried to get free from the pressure and had two consecutive chances that were saved by the Argentinian goalkeeper. On both chances, Rulli stopped Roger’s attempts and frustrated the Valencian team thrust.
Aguirretxe on a roll
After Levante’s failed chances, the match turned in favour of “Donostiarras”. Another defensive mistake from the “Granotas” defenders allowed Aguirretxe to hit a header inside the box that Rubén wasn’t able to stop. The striker’s tally in Liga BBVA has a total of six goals.
Ineffective Levante
The “Valencianos” had time enough to go on the attack and search for a goal that would keep them in the match, but any prospective of getting even failed by the inefficiency of the Levante team and Rulli’s saves. Their best chance was a header by Roger that crash on the crossbar.
Pressure and order
Under Xabi Prieto’s direction, Real Sociedad had a solid defensive order and imposed a high pressure on its rival that never allowed the Levante players to feel comfortable on the pitch. After trying hard, the Valencian team gave up and Real Sociedad went on the counterattack taking advantage of the spaced created by the home team winning the match clearly with Illarramendi and Vela’s goals.
