Real Sociedad stole the show on Saturday after a goal fest at home. Other highlights of the day included Real Madrid, Almería and Celta Vigo’s hard fought wins.
To start off Saturday’s action Real Sociedad beat Osasuna 5-0. Jon Ansotegi put the home side ahead in the first half, and Iñigo Martínez, Antoine Griezmann, Gonzalo Castro and Haris Seferovic also got their names on the score sheet to the delight of the Anoeta crowd.
Almería had to work harder in order to overcome Real Valladolid. Francisco Rodríguez’s men picked up their second successive Liga BBVA win thanks to a Rodri goal in the first half.
Real Madrid was also made to sweat it out for all three points as the Whites defeated Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas. Carlo Ancelotti’s side were cruising at 3-0 in the 49th minute thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo brace and a Karim Benzema goal, but saw its lead reduced to 3-2 in the 55th after the home side was awarded two penalties. Madrid managed to hang on to the win and is now six points off Barcelona. Paco Jémez’s men are now bottom of the table with just nine points.
The last match of the day saw Celta Vigo beat Sevilla FC 1-0 in the Sánchez Pizjuán. An Alex López goal caused by a Beto error gave Luis Enrique’s team its third victory of the season.
