Real Betis, Deportivo, Sevilla and Espanyol through to Copa del Rey last-16

Betis edge R. Sporting, Deportivo scrape past Llagostera, Sevilla thump Logroñés, and Espanyol oust Levante.

R. Sporting 3-3 Real Betis

The Sevillian squad got the pass to the next round although, at times, the ‘’Asturianos’’ believed in the recovery. Bernardo took the lead for the home team, but Van Wolfswinkel equaled the clash in the first half. The half-time urged on Sporting, which got ahead again on the scoreboard thanks to Halilovic. The Croatian player was the responsible for scoring a penalty and thus add to the match excitement. However, as Abelardo’s men began to believe in the pass, the ‘’beticos’’ quelled the problems with a great header by Van Wolfswinkel and the tie goal by Álvaro Cejudo.

RC Deportivo 1-1 UE Llagostera

Riazor hosted the second leg of the pairing between ‘’gallegos’’ and ‘’catalanes’’, which finally chose the Liga BBVA side. Despite the first attempts by Oriol Alsina’s men to turn the match around, Juan Dominguez got Deportivo ahead on the score through a corner which complicated things for the away team. A penalty on Querol allowed Jordi López score the goal to get the draw, but Llagostera didn’t get to provoke the extra time.

Sevilla FC 2-0 UD Logroñés

The three goals of advantage obtained in the first leg allowed the Andalusians take the the return match easier. The local team took advantage of their quality in attack to get a comfortable win against Logroñés. Immobile got Emery’s men ahead on the score to kill off the match with a great free kick.

RCD Espanyol 2-1 UD Levante

Constantin Galca couldn’t have a better start as coach for the ‘’catalan’’ team, getting a win that places the 'pericos' in the second round. However, Levante took the lead on the score with an outstanding free-kick goal by Verza. Espanyol got to react soon thanks to a great play by Asensio and Burgui in which the ‘’extremeño’’ didn’t fail. In the second-half, Caicedo broke the equality through a fantastic play that ended with a straight shot, thus achieving the pass to the quarter-finals for Espanyol.
