RCD Espanyol round off Bolivian LaLiga World Experience

RCD Espanyol rounded off their post-season adventure with a friendly against Club Bolivar that ended goalless. After four days filled with events, matches and social commitments, the Catalan outfit head back to Spain on Sunday with positive memories from their participation in LaLiga World, an international project that aims to bring LaLiga clubs closer to all corners of the globe.

Fernando Sanz, LaLiga's director of international projects, described Espanyol's trip to Bolivia as, "an opportunity for the club, a source of pride for fans in the country and another step forward in terms of extending links between Bolivian and Spanish football."

Neither team were able to muster a goal during the clash, but beyond the result, the Catalan side's second fixture in Bolivia will be remembered for the fans' extraordinary levels of enthusiasm. The crowd of over 5,000 in attendance at the Felix Capriles Stadium in Cochabamba made their voices heard throughout and generated a festive atmosphere in the process.

Aside from those who took to the pitch for the visitors, the match had special significance for two people in particular: Thomas N'Kono and Juanmi Callejon. The current Espanyol goalkeeping coach and former Bolivar shotstopper received a standing ovation from the crowd, while the Spanish midfielder was able to compete against the club where his twin brother, Jose Callejon, plied his trade for three seasons from 2008 until 2011.
