Getafe CF now sit fifth in the table after downing Real Betis Balompié. 3-1. The match had a stand out performer, Pedro León, who scored twice for the home side.
Three points more points at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez and Getafe kept up their winning record at home. Guillermo Sara was busy in the Betis goal right from the start, and Pedro León put the side from Madrid after quarter an hour with a free kick from distance, taking advantage of the fact Sara was off his line. The central midfielder from Murcia then doubled the lead with a header. The Getafe assault carried on, and shortly after Colunga made it 3-0, delicately guiding the ball past the Betis ‘keeper.
Pepe Mel shuffled his pack at half time, throwing on Cedrick and Álvaro Vadillo for Juanfran and Xavi Torres in order to play more direct, offensive football, and the substitutes helped Betis return to performing at a higher level. It was Vadillo who was fouled for the free kick that lead to the score becoming 3-1, as Getafe defender Rafa put the ball in to his own goal. The three points take Getafe up to fifth with 13 points, whilst the defeat leaves Betis in 13th place on eight points, still awaiting their first win away from home this season.
