At. Osasuna overcame R. Valladolid CF 2-1 in one of the most important games of matchday 17 of the Liga Adelante. With a Javad Nekounam score and an own-goal by Marc Valiente, Jan Urban’s side ended a poor run of five matches without winning. Óscar González scored for Valladolid, who slip away from the automatic promotion spots.
Both sides put on an attractive spectacle, with a first half that featured three goals. It was Osasuna who struck first, with a goal from Nekounam barely four minutes in, but Valladolid responded with speed and accuracy. Óscar, with a nice chip shot, made it 1-1 in the 16th minute. The equaliser spurred on the Pucelanos, but Osasuna managed to take the lead again following an unfortunate incident for the visitors in which Marc Valiente scored in his own goal.
While the first half could not have got off to a better start for Osasuna, the Rojillos began the second half with a big setback: Javi Flaño’s sending off. With numerical superiority, Valladolid fought until the last minute to level match, enjoying several opportunities to do so. However, Jan Urban’s men held on and were able to defend their lead until the final whistle.
