Team News:

- Real Madrid: Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale (injured).

- Villarreal CF: Mateo Musacchio, Tomas Pina, Jaume costa, Samu Castillejo and Roberto Soldado (injured).

Match Facts:

Real Madrid (3rd, 75 pts):

-The title race is closer than ever. With FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid all in the chase, a slip up could end any one of the three contenders' title aspirations. Real Madrid thrashed Getafe CF (5-1) in their last Liga BBVA fixture and are on a seven game winning streak.

-Cristiano Ronaldo has notched up 31 goals this season. The striker, one of LaLiga's most in-form players, has hit a purple patch and is the current Liga BBVA top goalscorer. The Portuguese failed to find the net in Real Madrid's 1-0 away defeat to Villarreal earlier in the campaign but, with Los Blancos just two goals shy of 100 league goals for the campaign, will be hoping to help his team hit their century for the season.

-"Villarreal are a really tough team, because they're very good defensively and have quality players like Denis Suarez," said Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane.

Villarreal (4th, 60 pts):

-Villarreal are enjoying one of their best seasons ever. They were top of the table on Matchday 6 and, after pulling off a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu last season, will be hoping to get something from this year's trip to the Spanish capital.

-A solid defence has seen them concede just 28 LaLiga goals this season, the league's second best defensive record.

-"Going to the Santiago Bernabeu is always tough. We're hoping we put in a great performance and they have an off day," said Villarreal boss, Marcelino Garcia Toral, in his pre-match press conference.
