SÁB 19.03.2016

Team News:

- R. Sporting: Bernardo and Alex Menendez (injured); Alen Halilovic (suspended).

- Atletico Madrid: Tiago and Diego Godin (injured); Yannick Carrasco (suspended).

Match Facts:

R. Sporting (19th, 24 pts):

- Sporting were beaten by Malaga last time out and the Asturians are now in real need of putting some points on the board as the relegation battle starts to heat up.

- Abelardo has witnessed his side lose four on the bounce during the last month, in a run during which the league's newboys have gone eight games without a win, a sequence of results which makes the hosts' need to stop the rot all the more desperate.

- Sporting are looking for home comforts to help them claw themselves out of the bottom three. Both Abelardo and his players have called on the home faithful to get behind them in their attempts to bring the feel-good factor back to El Molinon.

Atletico Madrid (2nd, 67 pts):

- Last weekend's victory over RC Deportivo saw Diego Simeone's side maintain second place in the league standings. The Rojiblancos will be gunning for victory here as they seek to keep the pressure on FC Barcelona.

- The visitors travel to Gijon without one of their key men, after Diego Godin was forced to come off through injury during his side's Champions League round-of-16 win over PSV. The Uruguayan faces several weeks on the sidelines.

- Simeone's men have conceded just three goals in their last ten away games, a statistic which speaks volumes of the side's defensive solidity on the road.

What's on in Gijon this weekend?

There are very few places that can compare to Gijon when it comes to looking for the ideal spot to celebrate Father's Day (which in Spain is on 19 March). The San Lorenzo beach and its promenade provide the perfect setting for an enjoyable family day out. To round things off, there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the 'Plaza del Ayuntamiento', where you'll be able to savour some fine food.
