Xabi Irureta bids farewell
This was a final appearance for the long-standing custodian, and whilst he may have been beaten on four occasions, he'll take some consolation from the fact that he's signed off having played the last two games of a season in which he didn't feature as prominently as he has during previous campaigns.
Gerard Moreno & Marco Asensio turn on the style
RCD Espanyol are a side full of youthful talent, and their young forward line once again proved the point in this, the final game of the season. The forward pairing treated those inside the RCDE Stadium to a masterclass in fine football and goals. Gerard Moreno set the Catalans on the way by producing a clinical finish when put clean through on Irureta after 13 minutes. Just minutes later, Moreno turned provider to tee up Marco Asensio, who doubled the hosts' advantage. After the restart, a left-footed Asensio strike made it 3-1 and Moreno later rounded off the hosts' scoring with his second of the day.
Eibar's number 18 makes it 18 for the season
Borja Baston was once again amongst the goals, as he reduced the arrears with a second-half spot-kick. The Ameros hitman, whose goal didn't on this occasion hand his side victory, made it 18 goals to end the season amongst the division's leading Spanish marksmen.
Sergi Enrich hits the last goal of the game
The Eibar forward was intent on signing off for the season with a goal and he fired home what proved to be nothing more than a consolation as the game ended 4-2.
Next stop: #LaLigaWorld
After having guaranteed their league status for next season, both of these sides brought the curtain down on their Liga BBVA seasons at the RCDE Stadium. However, their seasons now continue with the LaLiga World, a LaLiga programme which will see the Pericos and Armeros head out to Bolivia and the United States respectively, where they will face two friendly games each, as they fly the flags for their clubs internationally.
