Club Atlético de Madrid are back to winning ways in the Liga BBVA after beating UD Almería 0-1 on the fifth matchday of the championship. João Miranda, with a header after 60 minutes, decided a match that the Andalusian side did not give up without a fight.
Atlético started the match with huge intensity, unsettling the home defenders with a number of chances. A header from Diego Godín after seven minutes was the first warning shot from Diego Simeone's men, but Rubén Martínez made a great stop to keep the Uruguayan's name from the score-sheet. The keeper proved vital to the Andalusians once more, helping them reach the break at 0-0, saving a Tiago Mendes power-driver from the edge of the box at full stretch.
The Madrid side managed to break through the home defence early in the second half. The goal came after 60 minutes from a set-piece, one of the Rojiblancos' most deadly weapons. Koke took a corner and João Miranda cropped up to head into the back of the bet and make it 0-1 with a goal that proved decisive. Despite the fact that Francisco Rodríguez's team kept fighting for an equaliser until the end, Atlético managed to defend their lead and notch up three points.
