On Wednesday Javier Matilla, along with Real Betis Balompié president Miguel Guillén, signed a contract extension which will keep the player at the Estadio Benito Villamarín until the 30th of June 2017.
Matilla arrived at the Andalusian outfit in 2011 from Villarreal CF, the team for whom he played his first two seasons in Liga BBVA. After an initial season at Betis (2011/12), the man from Toledo was loaned to Real Murcia CF last season, where he was a standout performer. This summer he returned to Pepe Mel’s side, and has since become a fundamental part of the manager’s plans, starting seven of the eight games the side have played this season.
