Luis Suarez

FCBarcelona started brightly with Leo Messi getting in a shot which Manu Fernandez did well to push behind. But from the ensuing corner Ivan Rakitic curled in a cross to the near post and Luis Suarez volleyed in from close range. It was the Uruguayan’s first goal in five league games and he appeared keen to put the record straight as he went on to add three more and set up three others. He moved on to 30 goals in the Liga BBVA.

Bravo saves

Deportivo almost grabbed a quick equaliser but Claudio Bravo came to the rescue with two important saves, the second coming after a goalmouth scramble. Bravo stopped Celso Borges’s effort and Oriel Riera then blazed over from a tight angle. They rarely threatened after that.

Rakitic

Rakitic put in a huge performance pressuirng hard all over the pitch and getting on the scoresheet. The Croatian netted his sixth of the season in the 47th minute, scoring at the back post from a cross delivered by Luis Suarez.

Messi, Bartra, Neymar

Messi, Marc Bartra and Neymar added to the scoreline as Barça ran away with it in the second period. The Argentine stroked home from Luis Suarez's pass for the sixth. Bartra galloped away from the halfway line to second the seventh. In for the suspended Gerard Pique, he saw the Depor defence open in front of him and he carried on into the area to score. Neymar rounded off the rout at the end from another Luis Suarez pass.

Back to winning ways

Luis Enrique steadied his ship after a draw and three consecutive defeats to keep his side top of the standings. Barcelona remain leaders, ahead of Atletico Madrid due to their superior head-to-head record against Diego Simeone's men, who were 1-0 winners at San Mames against Athletic Club.
