Liga BBVA represented in the Ballon d’Or

Liga BBVA is one of the main protagonists in the list of the world’s best players who are shortlisted for this year’s FIFA Ballon d’Or. A total of six players who play in the Spanish top-flight are amongst the 23 candidates.

Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Neymar of FC Barcelona join Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid CF as the footballers that will represent Liga BBVA in the final decision. In addition, Spanish national team manager Vicente del Bosque and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti are nominated for the prize FIFA Coach of the Year.

From the list of 23 players managers and captains of every national side, plus the journalists of every federation, will vote for their favourite players. On the 2nd of December FIFA will announce the three finalists who will aim to be announced as the overall winner on the 13th of January 2014 in Zurich (Switzerland).

The complete shortlist of 23 is as follows: Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Eden Hazard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Philipp Lahm, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Mesut Özil, Andrea Pirlo, Franck Ribéry, Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luis Suárez, Thiago Silva, Yaya Touré and Robin van Persie.
