UD Las Palmas and R. Valladolid CF drew 0-0 in the return leg of the first round of Liga Adelante promotion playoffs. The home side, after a good game against Valladolid were able to take advantage of a goalless draw that means they are now two games away from promotion to the Liga BBVA.
The game began with the home side much more switched on in the game. Despite the fact that it was Valladolid who needed at least one goal to go through, the Yellows, encouraged by their fans, went out on the pitch much more intense and aggressive. As time ticked on, the visitors were able to increase their drive and presence, which equalled out the forces a lot, although no goals arrived for either side. The clearest attacks of the first half came with a gentle shot from Sergio Araujo just before half time and a double chance for the Yellows, courtesy of Jonathan Viera and Araujo again. On both occasion the shots were dealt with by a really in form Javi Varas.
The game continued much in the same way in the second half. The home side and Valladolid continued to fight for ball possession in midfield. The visitors, in need of a goal, pushed up against the Yellows, who had another dangerous chance through Araujo, the most active of Paco Herrera’s men. Time was running out for Valladolid and because of that, Joan Francesc 'Rubi' substituted Carlos Peña for Jonathan Pereira. A forward on for a defender, in order to go for it in a game that they could not draw. As such, although they tried, they were unable to get a goal from their chances, which means that Las Palmas are the team who will play the final stage thanks to the 1-1 draw they managed in the first leg.
