LaLiga Experience
VIE 25.03.2022
In the week building up to ElClásico, the most famous LaLiga match of the season, we had broadcasters activate challenges on their social media channels and television shows.
For instance, DAZN in Germany and Italy - who are our official broadcasters in both countries - promoted a “Guess The Result” challenge to their followers, who in turn had to predict the ElClásico result on the platform. DAZN Italy asked their followers to take part in their online prediction platform called ‘DAZN FUN’, where we can find a special page dedicated to LaLiga matches and LaLiga’s Ultimate Challenge.
DAZN Germany used their official Instagram page to promote the challenge and broke past records as more than 11,000 followers left their predictions for the match!
Changing continents, one of the official broadcasters of LaLiga in Asia, beIN Sports, activated the campaign in 4 strategic markets: Hong Kong (through NOW TV and beIN Sports), Indonesia (beIN Sports), Thailand (Siam Sports), and Malaysia (Astro). In combination with this, they reached a wide audience by collaborating with key figures in these regions. Such as journalists, influencers and the sports photographer, Mario Sonatha, from Indonesia.
With the popular influencer Yang Dingding leading the ‘Goal Celebration’ campaign, iQIYI Sports China finished their fourth challenge in impressive style. Not only was digital engagement a success, they also had full coverage on more than 14 TV channels. The influencer did not only release videos through Weibo but also invited fellow influencers to participate and interact in the campaign. Apart from Weibo, iQIYI is also using the Chinese digital platforms WeChat, Douyin, Kuaishou, Toutiao and Baidu to keep subscribers’ attention.
Focusing now on India, Viacom18 continued with their remarkable campaign, which was full of original content and bespoke promos. They started LaLiga’s Ultimate Challenge in October and with ElClásico they concluded the fifth challenge of the season - their numbers reached over 1,000 participants.
Through MTV and Voot platforms, the media partner posted regularly on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. On TV they showed LaLiga’s clips before kick-off, during half-time and after LaLiga matches. In addition to this, well-known influencers in the region shared reels and videos, calling followers to action.
With LaLiga entering the final stage of the season, influencers and pundits of the international channels are joining in the discussion by showcasing their skills and involving more fans!
From beIN Sports Australia, digital creator Tom McGowan showed his footballing ability during the Barcelona derby week, calling subscribers to participate in ‘Master The Ball’. TikTok celebrity VAR-Rommet, from TV2 Norway, posted another entertaining video of his skills, proving that he could easily win the challenge. However, due to the involvement of big names from global broadcasters Fernando Palomo and Ricardo Puig (ESPN USA), it would not be an easy task to choose a winner of the challenge.
One final example is that of D-Smart, the official broadcaster of LaLiga in Turkey. They finished the competition with their sixth ‘Guess the Result’ around El Clásico by getting presenter Aykut Aydin and columnist Koray Durkal involved to channel more people into the contest from their Twitter profiles.
