LaLiga president Javier Tebas and Alfredo Lorenzo, LaLiga's director of integrity and security, took part in the congress organised today, Thursday, in Miami by the International Association of Lawyers on the Latest Trends in Sports Law in Europe and the United States – Views from Both Sides of the Atlantic. In addition to the LaLiga delegation, also present were representatives of EPFL (European Professional Football Leagues), CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football), the big leagues of various sports from around the world, and prestigious lawyers who specialise in sports law.
During his speech, LaLiga's president explained the growth which LaLiga has experienced in the last three years, placing special emphasis on the distribution of broadcasting rights for LaLiga clubs. Furthermore, Javier Tebas noted that this expansion has gone hand-in-hand with the internationalisation of the LaLiga brand around the world.
Among other issues, Javier Tebas discussed the challenges facing European football in the face of pressing issues such as the regulation of TPO (third-party ownership), which is banned by FIFA. The president of the Spanish organisation explained the consequences of this ban for world football.
Alfredo Lorenzo, meanwhile, took part in a roundtable discussion on security in sport along with Don Garber, the MLS commissioner, and members of the National Football League (NFL) and the North American Soccer League (NASL).
The director of integrity and security outlined the focus of LaLiga's work on both of these issues and explained the development which Spanish football has undergone in terms of security measures at stadiums, as well as emphasising the steps LaLiga has taken to stamp out violence.
