After a frenetic final few hours the winter transfer window for LaLiga SmartBank has now closed. Check out the most notable signings below.
AD Alcorcon made more reinforcements than any other team in the division, bringing in eight players: Borja Valle (Khor Fakkan Club), Ivan Calero (Malaga CF), Joel Valencia (Brentford F.C.), Emmanuel Apeh (CD Tenerife), Cristian Rivero (Valencia CF), and Luis Valcarce (Arka Gdynia). Fran Fernandez’s charges sit bottom of the division and are 17 points from safety, so they’re hoping that these much needed reinforcements will help them turn their delicate situation around.
Another one of the eye-catching signings and biggest surprises among LaLiga SmartBank clubs this window was the return of Jony Rodriguez to Sporting Gijon, with the 30-year-old joining on loan from Lazio. He will be embarking on his third spell with the Asturians, having last represented the club back in 2018, scoring six goals in 23 games.
Javier Ontiveros and David Timor are also notable movers. The latter joins Huesca from Getafe CF on a free transfer while the former heads west from Villarreal CF to CF Fuenlabrada.
One of the final players to make a move in January was Sabin Merino, joining Real Zaragoza from CD Leganes.
