Argentina and France are set to take part in the biggest international clash on the planet this Sunday. After making it through the group stage and successfully navigating three knock-out rounds, the two teams will battle it out in Qatar to see who is proclaimed the winner of this year’s World Cup.
Argentina, managed by the former LaLiga player Lionel Scaloni, have a total of 10 men who play for LaLiga clubs: Geronimo Rulli (Villarreal CF), Nahuel Molina (Atletico Madrid), Gonzalo Montiel (Sevilla FC), Germen Pezzella (Real Betis), Marcos Acuña (Sevilla FC), Juan Foyth (Villarreal CF), Rodrigo de Paul (Atletico Madrid), Guido Rodriguez (Real Betis), Alejandro Gomez (Sevilla FC) and Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid).
France, meanwhile, currently have five LaLiga players in their Qatar squad: Jules Kounde (FC Barcelona), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Aurelien Tchouameni (Real Madrid), Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona) and Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid).
If we look at the best represented clubs, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich top the ranking with four players apiece, followed by Sevilla FC and Juventus, who contribute three players per club. FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Betis and Villarreal FC also have players in the national teams, with two players each.
