The LaLiga Santander 2016/17 season has nearly reached its halfway point, with a record-breaking amount of strikes witnessed to date in this campaign.
It's been decades since there have been as many goals in the first 16 matchdays of a LaLiga Santander season, concrete proof of just how exciting the Spanish top flight has been for supporters across the country. In the first 159 games of the LaLiga Santander 2016/17 season a total of 468 goals have been scored, an average of 2.94 goals per game, greater than all other top European leagues.
At the time of writing, the Premier League boasts an average of 2.82 goals per game, which is slightly higher than the 2.80 in Serie A. In Germany's Bundesliga, the average is 2.71, while in the France, Ligue 1 fans have witnessed 2.68 per game.
