LALIGA and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) have gathered in Madrid to strengthen their relations and work together in the fight against piracy. This meeting, held at LALIGA's offices, was attended by a delegation from the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Right within EUIPO.

The purpose of this meeting was to share relevant information on the ways in which the illegal distribution of audiovisual content is carried out, how the business models around this illicit phenomenon work and thus provide a basis for the subsequent solutions to address more effectively the challenge of the phenomenon regarding piracy of audiovisual contents on the digital environment.

In particular, LALIGA, thanks to its subsidiary LALIGA Content Protection, which has advanced technological tools integrated in its own anti-piracy laboratory located in Madrid, offered a detailed explanation on the traceability of the pirate ecosystem and the actors involved in the illegal distribution of audiovisual content.

Following the presentation, the organizations exchanged comments and experiences regarding effective intellectual property protection measures, the need to continue to provide tools and resources to assist in the fight against intellectual property infringements, and to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property and the negative effects of audiovisual piracy.

LALIGA Content Protection, through its technological tools such as Marauder, Lumiere, Neko and Black Hole is supporting content creators such as Telefónica, Atresmedia, Wimbledon, DORNA, SKY Mexico, and also has an agreement with the Ministry of Culture since 2017. With this meeting, LALIGA seeks to continue its relations within the European Union for the protection of its audiovisual assets.
