Following on from over a year's endeavours to combat audiovisual piracy, LaLiga and the world's major sporting leagues came together at the White House to continue working together in the fight to stamp out one of the main problems affecting their operations. The meeting was also attended by US government representatives, in a clear show of support for an issue which concerns both LaLiga and the major North American sporting league authorities in equal measure.

Those in attendance alongside LaLiga's managing director of innovation and global development, Ignacio Trujillo, were: Daniel Marti, intellectual property enforcement coordinator at the White House; Kevin Plumb, head of legal services for the Premier League; Ayala Deutsch, executive vice president at the NBA; Dolores DiBella, counsel for the NFL; Amy Gold, litigation counsel for MLB; William Ordower, executive vice president at MLS; Tom Prochnow, vice president at the NHL; Harrison Whitman, general counsel for Top Rank Boxing and Dylan Budd, vice president at the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The league representatives have made strides in the struggle against piracy, which is one of the main challenges facing the major sporting leagues across the globe and a united front has been identified as a key element in bringing an end to this practice.

The most prominent sporting leagues from around the world have been working together to combat an issue which directly impacts upon their operations. Audiovisual piracy is today one of the biggest challenges facing the major leagues and together they have vowed to continue to take strides to eradicate it. The meeting was held at the White House, the headquarters of the world's most advanced government administration in the present digital economy.

Remaining faithful to a strategy which sees piracy as a global issue, LaLiga have joined forces with the White House to draw up a Global Coalition constitution - involving the major sporting leagues in the United States and other affected organisations, such as advertising brands and piracy suppliers - to fight against the pirate sites offering illegal access to sporting content. LaLiga is committed to continuing to work alongside the world's major sporting leagues to overcome this issue, with a view to ensuring that the LaLiga product continues to maintain its rightful value within the market place.
