LALIGA, for the fifth consecutive year, joins forces with Spanish city councils to help the most disadvantaged in society via 114 soup kitchens in 41 different Spanish cities.
This charitable campaign has grown each year with the number of soup kitchens in the cities that collaborate, and as a result, the number of people benefiting, now exceeds 23,000 throughout Spain. In addition, donations of winter supplies to combat the cold such as gloves and hats have also increased, reaching 30,000 units.
With the support of local soup kitchens, LALIGA will offer help so that the most needy can enjoy a special nutritious meal on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day and Three Kings Day, knowing how difficult these days are for people in the most unfortunate situations.
As in previous years, LALIGA also donated 30,000 hats and pairs of gloves to the soup kitchens, thus supporting the cold weather campaigns run by public institutions. Furthermore, this year the amount of these items has increased by 50%.
Javier Tebas, Presidente of LALIGA, stated that, “Once again, LALIGA wants to help the most disadvantaged people during this special time of the year so that everyone can enjoy a Christmas meal. It's something we are absolutely committed to and that we certainly hope to repeat year after year”.
Ultimately, with this campaign LALIGA is aware of its responsibility as a social agent, and uses the power of football to benefit society in order to help more people enjoy Christmas.
