LaLiga completed its entry yesterday in the European Union’s Transparency Register. This Register is part of a series of initiatives created by the Commission for increased disclosure in the European Union’s decision-making processes. This is a public website in which organisations that pursue interests on a European level must duly register and regularly update their details.
The Register is committed to advocacy and representation, as well as covering all activities that aim to influence, directly or indirectly, the definition and implementation of policies and the decision-making processes of EU institutions, regardless of where they are carried out.
LaLiga’s entry in the Register demonstrates its firm commitment to openness and transparency related to the interests it represents before the institutions of the European Union. Being a registrant will provide a series of incentives, improve its profile in Brussels and demonstrate to partners and competitors alike its commitment to respecting a code of conduct.
Currently there are more than 8,000 organisations and bodies in the EU Transparency Register, among which are specialised public affairs consultancies, law firms, special-interest groups and trade, business and professional associations. It also includes registrants such as charities, non-governmental organisations, religious organisations, academic institutions, etc.
Laliga, anticipating the requirements imposed by law, and in its commitment to transparency, access to information and good governance, began publishing a permanent section on its official website last December with contents concerning information transparency (https://www.laliga.es/lfp/transparencia).
